BUYING PROCEDURE
(The method to be adopted when buying a repossessed yacht through this company)
- Select the boat that interests you.
- Telephone to discuss an educated bid price.
- If qualified and serious, submit bid in writing.
- Wait for a response (often 2-3 days- committee meeting decision)
- If accepted a contract is drawn up with an addendum that includes a fiscal compliance questionnaire, it also states what documents will be supplied by the seller.
- If accepted the contract is signed by all qualified parties.
7 The buyer is required to be send a 10% deposit(of the contract price) to our client account
8 (The buyer at his cost )appoints a qualified marine surveyor to inspect the boat
9 When the deposit of 10% of the contract sale price refelects as cleared funds in our client account (and not before) relates to point No 10
10 (At the cost of the buyer) the boat is lifted out of the water, pressure cleaned, and chocked up on land
11 The surveyor inspects the hull and drives, if acceptable, (at the cost of the buyer) the boat is anti-fouled (this will alow the boat to reach maximum speed during a sea trial) and all anodes are replaced (ALL YARD CHARGES AND YARD SERVICES PERFORMED ON THE BOAT MUST BE PAID BY THE BUYER, BEFORE THE BOAT IS LIFTED BACK INTO THE WATER)(no cash no splash)
12 (Only when payment relating to item 11 is confirmed) The boat is craned back into the water
13 A suitable time for a sea trial (2 hours) is arranged with the surveyor, its recommended(at the cost of the buyer) that representatives of the engine manufacturer are also present during the sea trial. All aspects of the boat are inspected and a (limited) appraisal of the motors performance are given
14 The yacht surveyor and the engine surveyor give a written appraisal of the boat and engines, and if acceptable the sale continues as per the terms of the sales contract.
CONTRACTS
We exclusively use the (Mediterranean yacht broker’s memorandum of agreement) as a working tool. We are not members of this organisation but are happy to use their tried and proven contract
DEPOSITS
All deposits will be lodged in our client account at Barclays Bank Gibraltar unless otherwise agreed
SURVEYS
It is the responsibility of the buyer at his cost to instruct a qualified surveyor to inspect the yacht in question, it is the Content of the surveyors report that partially determines whether the sale proceeds or not.
